Explore the South of Lebanon
A stele in the open air museum at Nahr el Kalb has been added in 24 May 2000, after the withdrawal of Israel from South of Lebanon. South of Lebanon is a world unto its own, and it is enchanting you to discover its natural and historical treasures going back to 6000 years of history. The two main Phoenician cities Sidon and Tyre are still in existence today with many monuments, castles and ruins standing as a reminder of their previous majestic power and glory. A major part of the native craft in Lebanon is located in the south of Lebanon where artisans make masterpieces from native materials; shape it with an esthetic innate of historical, social and environmental background.
Trip itinerary:
Day 1 :
- Meet & assist at the airport
- Departure for a city tour of Beirut to visit: Martyr's Square, archeological sites, Mosques, Churches, Roman Bathes, Grand Serail, Clock Tower, the Robert Mouawad Private Museum, Al Saifi Village, Sursock/Gemmayzeh area
- Lunch break
- Visit of the National Museum
- Transfer to the hotel in Tyre
Day 2 :
- Breakfast at the hotel
- Departure to the South
- Visit of Sidon: Crusader's sea castle, khan el franj, medieval souks, the Omari Mosque, murex hill, Khan el Saboun, St Peter's & Paul's shrine
- Drive to Kefraya and watch the basket making art craft
- Continue to Jezzine
- Lunch break at Jezzine next to the waterfalls
- Visit traditional craft: cutlery and daggers
- Drive to Tyre
- Transfer to the hotel in Tyre
Day 3 :
- Breakfast at the hotel
- Visit of Tyre: The ruins of the Bass District on the Mainland
- The Crusader Cathedral
- Archeological Remains on the Island
- The Lebanese Museum for Marine and Wildlife
- Lunch break at Tyre
- Drive to Sarafand
- Visit the last traditional craft of glassblowing
- Drive to Adloun and visit the prehistoric caves and the Necropolis
- Transfer back to the hotel
Day 4 :
- Breakfast at the hotel Y
- Departure to Tibnine and visit the Toron Castle
- Continue to El Khiam and visit the museum
- Lunch break
- Visit of Hasbaya
- Continue to Nabatieh and visit the fortress of Shqif Arnoun
- Transfer to the hotel in Beirut
Day 5 :
- Breakfast at the hotel
- Departure to Sidon to visit its Garden: Eshmoun
- Continue to Shehim and visit the Roman temple
- Visit of Deir el Mokhalless and buy some Lebanese traditional products
- Lunch break
- Transfer to the hotel in Beirut
- Free afternoon and overnight in the hotel
Day 6 :
- Transfer back to airport for return flight
